When your kitchen cabinets are assembled you measure the door and drawer opening and take your list to a company that specializes in building just doors and drawers.
We are not going to discuss in detail how to finish your cabinets in this how to because it is a separate issue altogether, but suggest you install the cabinets and hire a professional painter to do the final step.
One of those things is to buy a low priced cabinet with solid wood material. That will give you an assurance that it can at least hold up and that it is sturdy enough. Otherwise, you may just be looking at a cabinet made of cheap wood that won't last long.
Shelf systems for cabinets are made out of glass that's sturdy enough to hold all your keepsakes. Many cabinets come with a standard number of shelves, but you should be able to order more if you need them. Some cabinets also come with a mirrored display back to create a beautiful, duplicate display area for items such as small statues or vases that have a back that you'd like to be visible. If you're displaying china or something with a back that's not meant to be seen, choose a standard backing that matches the finish of your cabinet.
A custom cabinet should allow you to choose the finish and details of your cabinet. This way you'll be able to coordinate the finish to either your wall color or any existing shelf systems you have in the room already. Other details include a display light kit, decorative bases, a clock at the top and framed or unframed glass doors. With so many options, you'll be able to completely customize your cabinet.
